Planning: Makeup Ideas

Mise en scene is going to play a very important role in our music video; prehaps even more than the locations and editing and camera shots will. This is because our aim with our music video is to entertain  our target audience and viewers; particularly with costume and makeup.

One very solid idea that we had for our makeup is to have lots of shots of the performer, which is myself, in the same location and position but wearing different makeup everytime. We were thinking of having one shot where our performer will be standing against the graffiti wall at Ladbroke Grove Skatepark and with editing show our performer in the exact same position but the makeup will change quite obviously. Our makeup will be very bright; particularly the colour of lipstick which will vary from bright colours that you wouldn't see many females wearing on a daily basis such as orange, blue, pink, purple etc. We will start of our makeup at the beginning of the music video quite subtle and not very eye catching and then as the music video progresses we will inject more colour into the scenes; just as we plan to do with our locations which will start of quite natural and modern and then progress to a bright burst of colour; this links into our motif of gradually introducing more and more colour and then when the music video comes to an end the viewer will not have realised the transition which will be very obvious in comparison to the beginning of the music video.

We will also experiment with eye makeup; different, colourful shades of eye shadow and even different colours of mascara such as blue and purple. We have most of these cosmetics already but might buy what is necessary and essential to our costume and makeup.

We will also experiment with patterns with our makeup, e.g, leopard print, zebra print and any edgy designs that we will be able to do.

Here are two makeup tutorials that i looked at for eyes and lipstick: they both show how to do these designs and seem fairly straight forward and quite simple to do:
